Global Services Insights & Analytics – Data Scientist Associate

Commercial Banking (CB), one of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co’s four lines of businesses, delivers extensive industry knowledge, local expertise and seamless global capabilities to clients – including corporations, municipalities, financial institutions, real estate investors and owners, and not-for-profit organizations, with annual revenue generally ranging from $20 million to $2 billion. The Global Services Insights & Analytics Team, part of Global Services Finance & Business Management, supports our partners with the best-in-class business insights and analytics program, focused on optimizing operational performance, enabling continuous improvements in planning, efficiency, service and controls for all key operational functions within CB.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong passion for data with the ability to drive analytics capability development using advanced data techniques and statistical methodologies
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to distill information and results into simple concepts and actionable insights for a variety of audiences
  • Experience participating in complex quantitative data driven efforts to drive business development in support of operations
  • Ability to provide technical support for our transition to AWS

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participate in data analytics and insight generation initiatives through hands-on data science techniques
  • Interact with business and functional stakeholders throughout the organization on analytics Initiatives and development
  • Synthesize business needs and identify optimal data solutions to address the needs
  • Deliver data insights, business value and recommend next steps to senior stakeholders
  • Be a key player in our transition to the cloud
  • Provide technical support to transition models to the Public Cloud
  • Execute the technical roadmap for Insights & Analytics Products
  • Support the Firm’s goals in cloud adoption through hands on interaction with development teams to cultivate a cloud first mindset in transitioning workloads
  • Ensures all engineering and development activities are in conformance with JPMC policies and objectives
  • Provides quality control of engineering deliverables
  • Provides support to develop & improve the quality of technical engineering documentation

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data science experience, preferably in financial services or commercial banking
  • Ability to understand business problems/processes and design solutions/methodologies that are rooted in data
  • Hands on experience with
  • Programming languages; must have solid technical proficiency with Python and SQL
  • Analytical tools; e.g., Alteryx, PowerBI
  • Distributed file systems; e.g., Hadoop
  • Visualization tools/programming; e.g., Qlik Sense, Tableau, D3
  • Cloud computing platforms and related tools; e.g., Amazon Web Services, Jules, Airflow – AWS Certifications a plus
  • Ability to design and execute repeatable and scalable data solutions (extraction / mining / modeling / visualization)
  • Effectively communicate insights/recommendations (verbal and written)
  • Exposure and experience with designing and building machine learning algorithms
  • Team player with a demonstrated strong work ethic. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in behavior and performance and an ability to work well and productively with cross-functional teams.
  • BA / BS; advanced study / engineering background / quantitative focus a plus
