DSHS BHA - WSH Lead Licensed Practical Nurse 
Western State Hospital (WSH) is seeking a Lead Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide high-quality nursing care while overseeing and assigning non-clinical duties to nursing staff under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

In this role, the Lead LPN will be responsible for delegating non-clinical tasks to LPNs and Mental Health Technicians (MHTs). Additionally, the Lead LPN will educate and train LPNs on nursing practices, as well as MHTs on the delivery of patient care and proper use of patient care equipment.

Some of what you'll do:

Collaborating with a Registered Nurse as a lead worker to provide nursing care and support the education of nursing staff.
Ensuring Licensed Practical Nurses are trained and proficient in using Pyxis and WellSky systems.
Administering medications and accurately transcribing orders from the physician.
Assisting with activities of daily living to enhance their independence and well-being.

Who should apply?

Possession of a valid Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse,

AND

Two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

The ability to communicate clearly and accurately in a calm, non-threatening manner.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
A desire to mentor, coach, and educate others.
Exceptional clinical knowledge and strong assessment skills.
Familiarity with state regulations and compliance standards for community residential programs.

Additional information:
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. 
Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.
