Special Education Teacher

Position Overview:

As a Special Education Teacher, you will work with students in a small-group and one-on-one setting, helping them develop skills in core academic subjects while implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). You will collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create an inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s strengths and needs.
  • Provide small-group and individualized instruction to support literacy, math, and other academic skills.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum to meet students’ learning styles.
  • Utilize assistive technology, multisensory approaches, and behavior support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and make data-driven instructional decisions.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to ensure students’ success.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including IEP reports, progress tracking, and student assessments.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued and supported.

Qualifications

  • Valid Connecticut (CT) Special Education Teaching License required.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
