About the position

Cabanas Law Firm is seeking a full-time bilingual Legal Assistant to join our expanding team in Pembroke Pines. This position is crucial as we replace assistants who have been promoted internally, reflecting our commitment to career growth and development within the firm.

 

 As a Legal Assistant, you will serve as a compassionate voice for our clients, handling inbound calls from prospective and existing clients, as well as attorneys. Your role will involve scheduling meetings for our attorneys with clients, ensuring that all interactions are handled with care and professionalism. In addition to client interaction, you will collaborate closely with our legal team to prepare necessary documentation and solutions for clients facing challenging family situations.

The Legal Assistant will manage various office correspondence and administrative tasks, including answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, documenting client discussions, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. You will also conduct legal research under the guidance of attorneys and paralegals, greet clients warmly, and escort them to their meeting locations, ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable. Additional administrative duties may be assigned to ensure the firm operates efficiently.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's degree is a plus
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or office environment as an administrative assistant or secretary
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must be able to type at least 50 WPM
  • Comfortable working with all Microsoft Office products
  • Experience working in a customer service computer system
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Organizational skills and effective communication skills are necessary for this position
  • Willing to learn new skills to assist with special projects
