Job Description
This position will serve Giles, Hickman, Maury, Lewis, Marshall, Lawrence, Wayne and Perry counties in Tennessee
Summary Of Position
- Centerstone is seeking a therapist with experience treating children/adolescents (ages 3-18) and their families with acute emotional problems. The position is a community-based position, providing flexibility with work schedule. This is an opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team. No weekend or on call work required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop therapeutic rapport with clients – Meet with clients as scheduled to aid in development of therapeutic relationship.
- Diagnostic Assessment – Formulate a provisional diagnostic assessment based on information presented, identify need for risk assessment (to include substance use assessments).
- Concurrent Documentation – Completes documentation to extend authorizations as required.
- Provide assessment services and individual (and possibly family) therapy to those identified at risk for being removed from the home.
- Treatment Planning – Developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals/objectives and plans per ongoing assessment of needs and input from the individual based on their identified strengths.
- Therapeutic Interventions – Use of empirically based modalities to engage and manage their mental health or substance abuse diagnosis.
- Progress notes completed within current agency guidelines.
- Responds to supervisory request for coverage for vacant caseloads. This includes telehealth and face to face intervention.
- Keeps administrative supervisor informed of all potential issues that could impact the client, their family, program or the organization.

- Demonstrates good clinical judgment in decision making regarding consumers.
Education Level
- This position requires a master’s degree in psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health, or related field. Prefer candidate to be license eligible in their chosen field.
- Successful applicants should have at a minimum, course work and/or work experience including clinical internships, in the following topics: treatment and treatment planning, appraisal and assessment of mental disorders, psychopathology, and the use of the DSM in assigning a diagnosis.
