JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Member Service Representative (MSR) handles accurately and efficiently processing and recording routine transactions for members in person, via phone, through mail and email. This includes but not limited to cashing checks, accepting deposits in multiple forms, performing withdrawals, processing loan payment, cash advances, cashier’s checks, and money transfers. The fundamental role of this position is to function as the liaison between the Credit Union and the member. This position provides the highest level of service to help maintain solid member relationships.

Essential Functions

  • Greets members and facilitates a welcoming, friendly and member-focused environment in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Processes member transactions efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced workplace while maintaining a balanced cash drawer and following internal controls and procedures.
  • Receives consumer loan, home loan and other payments, and ensure accuracy when posting to the computer including credit card advances.
  • Responds to member inquiries and concerns in person or on the phone by researching and identifying positive solutions or referring to appropriate staff or department for resolution.
  • Process and transmit checks through Check21
  • Process new checking account orders, re-orders, and debit card ordering system as well as other similar required items.
  • Promote, explain and cross-sell other credit union services such as electronic services, debit and credit cards, automobile loans, mortgage loans, cashier’s checks and money orders and other related services.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable federal and state laws and banking regulations (including those related to OFAC and Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering compliance) and the Credit Union’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintains member confidence and protects Credit Union operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Support the Credit Union’s strong relationship banking culture through on-going member contact, quality member service and superior product knowledge.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional Credit Union office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Extensive periods in sedentary position or standing if working as a Member Service Representative. Rotates between teller line and drive- thru as needed.Some bending, squatting, stooping, and light lifting required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a Part-Time position. Days and hours of work will range between Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to Noon. (Subject to change as the business model changes). Maximum hours are 33 hours per week.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
  • Previous Teller and/or cash handling skills helpful.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.50 - $15.00 per hour
