About the Position: 

The Sheriff's Department is currently recruiting for Sheriff's Commander (Law Enforcement). This is a solid career progression and management opportunity for current Sheriff's Captains for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.  The Sheriff's Commander is the highest sworn classification in the Sheriff's Department. This position plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of a major organizational unit of the Sheriff's Department. For more information about this job classification, CLICK HERE.

Education and/or Experience: 

General Option:  

One (1) year of service as a Sheriff's Captain with the County of San Diego; AND, successful completion of the required California P.O.S.T. Management Course (Title II, Chapter 2, Section 1005c of the Administrative Code of California).
