Medical Assistant

General Description:

This position is responsible for assisting providers with patient care; including but not limited to, procedures, obtaining weights, vitals, chief complaints, administer injections – including vaccines, and ensuring patient receives instructions and information related to their visit.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures any tools, medical supplies, etc., which provider may need for treatment are in the room.
  • Have patient in room with weight, vitals, and chief complaints documented in patient’s record prior to provider entering the room.
  • Assists provider with any procedures completed during patient visit.
  • Administers medications, injections, and vaccines as ordered by provider.
  • Responsible for rotation of vaccines and maintaining log of temperatures in refrigerator which they are stored.
  • Adheres to all confidentiality policies as indicated within the guidelines of NNOKP.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested by management.
  • Ensures clinic flow is controlled
  • Stock patient rooms appropriately
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested by management.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Lab experience preferred.
  • EMR experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of ICD/CPT codes and medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to interact effectively with providers, family members and other health care professionals as required.
  • Ability to work independently and perform in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive demeanor.

Education Requirements
